Magnetic Field Apparatus   (P-7692)

To demonstrate the production of a magnetic field by a current flowing in a solenoid. It consists of 3 coils of 5, 10, 20 turns, of insulated copper wire, suitably supported at the centre of the wooden base, having 4 socket terminals.

Electromagnet

Electromagnet   (P-7700)

It comprises mild steel U-shaped bar of circular cross section fitted with bobbins, wound with heavy gauge copper wire and the ends are ground very flat to make good magnetic contact with the iron armature. The connections of the bobbins are made to ensure that direction of winding each pole is obvious. Supplied with carrying hook, operates on 4-6 volts d.c. Supplied with keeper with hook.

Length x Bar dia (mm) : 100 x 12, 150 x 12, 100 x 15, 150 x 15

Westminster Electromagnetic Kit

Apparatus To Show Force on a Conductor in a Magnetic Field   (P-7728)

Comprising a strong U-shaped magnet and a pair of brass rails with 4mm socket terminals. A brass axle with plastic discs is free to roll along the rails and completes the electrical contact between them. When the axle is placed on the rails between the poles of the magnet, and a power supply unit is connected, the axle rolls along the rails, away from the centre of the magnetic field.

a) Single straight conductor, copper wire 3mm dia
b) Single loop, copper wire 3mm dia
c) Solenoid, multi loops, 7 turns copper wire 3mm dia

Barlow's Wheel   (P-7740)

For demonstrating the conversion of electric energy into mechanical energy. Star shaped copper disc 9cm dia. rotatable vertically on pair of adjustable centres and dipping.

Electric Field Apparatus

Electric Field Apparatus   (P-7742)

The apparatus enables electric field patterns to be shown in much the same way that magnetic fields are demonstrated with iron fillings, either by direct viewing or on an overhead projector. The apparatus comprises a clear plastic dish 90 x 12mm dia x depth and base 140 x 125mm, which carries a pair of 4mm socket terminals/electrode holders. Alongside each terminals is a thumbscrew system, which permits fine height adjustment of the electrodes. Six electrodes are supplied, two point source 'two line source' and two circular and two circular rings of 35 and 70mm dia. respectively.

Force on a Conductor balance

Force on a Conductor balance   (P-7745)

It is used to demonstrate that when a current is passed through a conductor in a magnetic field, it is subjected to a force of attraction or repulsion depending upon the direction of current in it. It consists of a plastic base 160 x 140mm on which two contact pillars are mounted. Each pillar is provided with an external circuit. A balance beam is supported by the pillars on two bearings, which form the fulcrum. Two screwed masses are provided in the beam system, one moving vertically for the adjustment of sensitivity and the other moving horizontally for the adjustment of the equilibrium position, when no current is flowing. Scale marked 0 to 75 x 1mm, rider of 1 gm weight.
